Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

 

When you have been friends with someone for a long time,it is important to continue your friendship with that person even if he or she does something you do not like.

 

立场：与长期朋友保持友谊很重要

 

1、从经济学角度来说，结束长期的友谊不划算

 

我们与任何人建立友谊都不是一蹴而就的，成为朋友需要一定的时间成本，情感成本等。尤其是对于长期的朋友，我们一定已经付出了很多，牺牲了很多。所以在这样的情况下，如果结束这段友谊再去建立新的友谊，这无疑让以前的努力都白费了。这在经济学上叫重置成本。

 

2、从成功的角度看，维持长期友谊有利于成功

 

根据康德的理论，长期的友谊之所以能够维持，一定是双方都获得到了利益，从而双方都不想放弃或结束。这样对身边的人就是一种吸引。身边的人一定会认为跟某某人交朋友一定很有好处。这样一来这个人身边的朋友就会越来越多。多个朋友多条路，朋友多自然能帮助你更接近成功。

Kent,a German philosopher,is straightforward（简单明了的）about friendship by saying that we humans pursue（追求）people as means to the end,rather than the end in its own right.Some may take his opinion as lopsided（不平衡的，倾向一方的），while others think that seeing friendship as means does hold water.As a result,it is controversial whether it is important to continue long-term friendship.As far as I am concerned,long-term friendship is necessary to maintain.

 

First,economically speaking,it is not wise to stop a long-term friendship.The economic concept,replacement cost（重置成本），accounts for（考虑到）its negative consequences;to restart anything means to add into the costs.That is,to end a friendship which one has taken a long time to establish means to repeat the process of investing time and sacrificing personal interest for the mutual（相互的）goods.This means that all the efforts he has made----for example,taking half a day to take care of the friend in hospital,trying to inspire the friend in depression and spending all the savings to help out a friend in difficulty----turn out to go down the drain（白白被浪费掉）。Therefore,treat friends as diamonds and treasure them as you can.

 

Second,to value long-term friendship paves the path to success.This is because we humans are gregarious（合群的）；no one could succeed without assistance from others.According to what Kent says about friendship,it is clear that to maintain long-term friendship gives people around the impression that you are easy-going and it must yield desirable results to make friends with you.Accordingly,more people try to forge links with（建立联系）you,which ultimately offers you greater likelihood of gaining help from others.A typical example is the success of Bush,the former American president.It was no secret that he was not as outstanding as other students in Yale interms of（就……而言）academic attainments.However,he has managed to become friends with almost every student in Yale.This definitely contributes to his final win in his political careers.

 

In conclusion,no sensible man would attempt to end any time-honored（确立已久的）friendship and the awareness to continue friendship with other people is an effective contributor to success in life.Therefore,I firmly hold that it is of undeniable（毋庸置疑的）importance to go on with old friends.
